In this study, the effects of cryogenic treatment and impregnation on combustion properties of chestnut wood (Castanea sativa) were investigated. In accordance with this purpose, the following sample groups were prepared: untreated control samples, impregnated samples, cryogenic treatment applied samples, impregnate and cryogenic treatment applied samples. The combustion test was performed according to the ASTM-E 69 standard. The mass reduction, release of gasses (CO, NO, O2), chimney and combustion temperature differences were determined for each 30 second during combustion. The data were analyzed, and the effectiveness of different treatments was discussed.

In this study, the effects of fire retardant paints on combustion properties of ash wood (Fraxinus excelsior) were investigated. In accordance with this purpose fire retardant paints were applied to the surface of the test samples. The combustion test was performed according to the ASTM-E 69 standard. The mass reduction, release of gasses (CO, NO, O2), chimney and combustion temperature differences were determined for each 30 second during combustion. The data were analyzed, and the effectiveness of fire retardant paints was discussed.
