The concept of mimesis has been defined in different forms throughout different periods. Today, it is also discussed that under what conditions the boundaries of this concept should be defined as an ethical phenomenon. The evaluation of the mimesis by different perspectives has brought it closer to concepts like copying which is far from being creativity, originality and educational. Therefore, the concept of mimesis which is on the agenda in many different fields such as literature, art and architecture from past, copy, pastiche etc. are included in the definitions parallel to the concepts. The examination of the definitions and boundaries of the mimesis is necessary to reveal the true meaning of this concept which is on the agenda in many fields. Examination of these definitions is important in terms of the correct evaluation of the products designed through imitation. The concept of imitation has become a global problem in architecture as well as in many other fields. With concerns such as creating identity, keeping local architectural identity or being international, especially local architectural elements are imitated without being questioned in full, it is not considered that the architectural products that emerged are compatible with today's life style. Therefore, it is the purpose of the study to show the effect of this situation on today's architecture. Otherwise, local architectural products will continue to be imitated without comment and unquestioning, and this design approach will remain a global problem. Because, it should be discussed that new buildings designed with mimicry of local architectural products have a positive effect on architectural identity. Today, we can say that the concept of mimesis has lost its positive meanings and that it finds itself in the agenda under commercial concerns. This situation prevents the design of original architectural products; cities are filled with architectural products similar to each other, which is not known to which term it belongs. The reason for this is that some architects can only resort to formal approaches in mimesis because of their purpose of keeping the local architecture alive or creating an architectural culture and identity that is unique to ourselves. In these approaches, it is forgotten that the main missed is a way of life rather than the forms of the local architecture, and the products that are emerging try to eliminate the sensation of longing to the past and local architecture with an artificial solution. The existence of architects who do not descend into the depths of his soul when imitating what precedes himself, evaluate it with superficial formal approaches, and the fact that these evaluations are not correctly understood by potential users, bring the negative sides of the concept on the agenda. From this perspective we can state that the architect must evaluate the conditions of their environment that they are in and under the light of their own thoughts, rather than repeating some items that belongs to local architecture. Thus, original architectural products can be designed and preserving the values of the local architecture can be reflected to the cities of the future. Therefore, the local architectural values should be guided in designing the original architectural products by changing according to the era without imitating one by one.
