2019 WORLD ENGINEERING COMPETITIONS: INTERNATIONAL CONTINUOUS PROJECT-BASED LEARNING SYSTEM

The World Engineering Competitions (WEC) started in September 2017, and since that time, the amount of participants was increasing. In February-May 2018, the amount of participants who saved their works reached 2000 people and grew steadily as more new cities, regions, and countries joined the WEC. This raised a few issues: data unification and consolidation; reducing time spent on getting access to the cloud and processing the project work, provide easy access for foreign participants and WEC experts. The WEC cloud solution was created as a new improved working and storing space for the WEC participants and experts. It allows to considerably saving time on registering and processing work; unifies and allows saving, securing and analyzing data; is integrated into the wec.today web site. Study of the WEC cloud efficiency required statistical analysis of the WEC participants and experts’ activities for the period of 3 months (October-December, 2018). The analysis found that the WEC cloud has nearly cut by half the time spent on registering, saving and processing participants’ works; access to the cloud became easier, more participants started to save their works in the cloud; foreign experts received an easy access to the works, as compared to using vendors’ cloud solutions.
