The objective of this study is to use an appropriate multicriteria decision making method to identify the
most suitable metro vehicles for urban transport. Most cities in the developing world have very limited
resources to cope with the high levels of public transport demand they experience. Effective usage of
these resources is important for economy and society. Selection of the most appropriate metro rail
systems vehicle also is difficult, and there are many variables such as technical, environmental impact
and social features pressures on decision making process to select a particular system. This paper
selects of among the alternatives of the most widely used metro rail system vehicles for developing
cities. Multicriteria decision making methods, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP), TOPSIS ad
VIKOR methods are used for solution of problem. These methods allow for effective comparison and
selection of the most suitable one between the alternatives. The process involves conducting pairwise
comparisons with respect to evaluated criteria and includes the best selection among the alternatives
technology. In the end, the most suitable metro vehicle is selected among the its alternatives to be
developed urban transport. The results of select process is evaluated and gave some advice.

Rail systems are used to provide transportation inner city and intercity. It requires a good planning
process due to the large budget of the rail system investment. This point is also an important in
determining the location of the stations, which is a step in the planning process. Therefore, various
factors are taken into consideration in station location decisions. In this study, a literature search is
carried out for the factors affecting the determination of the station location of the rail systems. As a
result, evaluations are made by grouping the criteria that affect the station location selection.

Transportation area are rapidly growing in the Turkey. There are more transportation projects different
area such as bridge, highway, urban transport, rail systems and inter-city transport projects. Highspeed rail and rapid train projects are one of these projects for intercity transport. Intercity transport is
very important for people in terms of travel time and safe, are variety projects in this area. The
allocated budget to this area is finite; thus, integration, demand, population, regional development and
budget limitations should be considered to choose the most valuable project in the best ranking. This
paper investigates an application study from a high-speed rail and rapid train projects in Turkey to
selection the most suitable projects for rail transport network. An application consists of planned highspeed rail projects and rapid train projects and the goal is to find the most suitable and the best
advantage projects in Turkey. In this paper, it used analytic hierarchy process(AHP) to find the weight
of the identified criteria for the rail systems in first step. Then it is presented a zero-one goal
programming (ZOGP) model to optimize and schedule the implementation procedure on the project
budget and special limitation. Finally, the best suitable projects are selected among the planned highspeed rail and rapid train projects with variety budget scenarios for intercity transportation.
