Assesment of A2 Level Textbooks in Terms of Expression Skills
AbstractDepending on the progress in numerous areas of the relations of Turkey with other countries, Turkish Foreign Language teaching is also becoming increasingly important and a lot of material is being prepared in this area. It can be said that one of the important ones are textbooks. For the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language to be successful in a communicative and interactive sense, it is necessary to prepare textbooks that can guide teachers and learners to improve the four basic skills of the target language. Individuals, who learn Turkish language as a foreign language, use their ability to explain their communication needs in daily life. Writing and speaking abilities, a subset of the speaking skills, are also important for the individual to demonstrate the level of target language learning. In this study, it was aimed to determine the place of the narrative skills in the language skills of Turkish A2 Level textbooks as Foreign Language. The study’s universe is textbooks of Turkish as a foreign language course, and the study’s sample is A’ course books of Gazi TÖMER Yedi İklim Publishing. In this study, two textbooks at A2 level used in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language were tried to determine where the speech and writing activities were held and which methods were used in writing and speaking activities by making a document analysis. At the first , the literature review was made from the A2 level textbooks of Yedi İklim and Gazi TÖMER publishings, then subject was analysed according to definition, classification and sorting in terms of the methods used in the activities.
