Reasons to Choose Economics Education in Turkey And Portugal

AbstractIt is one of the most important decisions for students to choose their education branch. Economics has been one of the most popular science branches since Adam Smith. There are many reasons to choose economic education in universities for students. The aim of this research is to investigate reasons to choose economics and compare these reasons for Turkey and Portugal. To this aim we conducted a survey on students of Kastamonu University economics department, Turkey, and also ask academicians in University of Beira Interior, Portugal, about these reasons. It is revealed that motivations to choose economic education in Turkey differ from motivations of Portuguese students in some aspects. Also, we found some similarities between these motivations.
