The Study of The Relationship Between Human Capital And Regional Development on The Basis Of PISA Survey

Abstract

The differences between developing and developed countries and the causes of interregional inequalities constitute the basis of economic development studies. The effect of human capital as well as technological development, population, financial progress, public debts, foreign debts on economic development has gained an importance. This paper analyzes the relationship between social capital and regional development. Human capital is the most crucial element for economic development for a country that is rich with its young population such as Turkey. PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) which reveals the training performance of students that are group of 15 age shows the effect of human capital on Turkey’s regional development with comparing research results and gross domestic product per capita. The east and west of Turkey resemble in two areas. It can be seen in two data that while eastern regions of Turkey have got less points, western regions of Turkey have got higher grades and points. However, regions show differences in themselves.
