THE FUTURE OF ACTIVE SUSPENSION APPLICATIONS FOR RAIL VEHICLES IN TURKEY

AbstractIn this study, regarding Turkey's objectives in railway area and national railway vehicle projects in the coming years, potential benefits of active suspension systems and necessary research topics to study are presented. Information on types of active suspension systems used in railway vehicles, their advantages against conventional suspension systems and their control mechanisms are given. In the current situation, there are different types of active suspension systems are being used in railway vehicles in the world. Information about in-operation railway vehicles, which uses active suspension systems, and their technologies are given. Additionally, studies aiming to improve the existing active suspension systems has been referred. Brief information about Turkey’s current situation in railway track and national railway vehicle development projects as well as future plans are given.
