Socialization Problems in Today's Family
AbstractFamily, as one of the main institutions of family society, has important social functions. The most basic function is the continuation of the generation. In addition, it fulfills other important functions in social life. The family institution is the most effective medium and it also fulfills the function of making the children of a society ready for social life and raising the society according to their expectations. However, as time passes, developments in science and technology influence the functions of social institutions, reduce or increase functions and transfer them to other institutions. In this context, in the process of socialization, which can be expressed as the preparation and training of the new generation according to the social expectations, the family institution has started to reduce its functions affected by contemporary developments or transfer it to other socialization institutions and environments. In other words, many socializing problems emerged in today's family. Our paper tries to reveal the socialization problems that arise in terms of socialization in today's family and in this context, the paper sheds light on the ways of solutions. Today, mothers and fathers take part in the daily life, go to work and leave home at an early time in the cities, come back very late to their homes. Children in very early ages stay pre-school education institutions, nursery and so on. It is emphasized that they have to go to places, they are forced to employ careers in houses and these all affect the socialization functions of the family. Especially, the rapid developments in communication, smart communication tools and means of the new generation begin to become very active in the process of socialization, and address the dangerous aspects of the socialization of the society apart from its own culture. It draws attention to the cultural alienation in the new generation due to the weakening of interaction and communication among family members. In addition, it proposes solutions for healthy socialization of the new generation and aims to contribute to the elimination of socialization problems
