Comparative Advantage of Turkey in International Markets: Textile Industry
AbstractThe aim of this study was to determine comparative advantage in international trade of Turkey's textile industry. In this study, the comparative advantage of the textile industry in 14 product groups was tried to be determined by using Balassa's explained comparative advantage (BAT) index. The study covers the period 2005-2016. The data used in the study were obtained from the database of the International Trade Center. According to the findings of Turkey textiles 50 (silk) and 53 (other vegetable textile fibers, paper yarn and yarn from the paper) is not in coded product has a comparative advantage. In the other 12 product groups 51 (wool and fine wool, fine or coarse animal hair, horsehair yarn and woven fabrics), 52 (Cotton, cotton yarn and cotton fabrics), 54 (Synthetic and artificial filaments, ribbons and similar synthetic and artificial textiles) 55 (Synthetic and artificial staple fibers), 56 (Wadding, felt and nonwovens, special yarns, twine, cord, rope, rope and articles thereof), 57 (Carpets and other textile floor coverings), 58 (Specially woven fabrics, tufted textiles, lace, tapestries, tapers and articles, processing), 59 (impregnated, coated, coated or laminated woven fabrics, technical articles from woven materials), 60 (Knitted articles), 61 (Knitted garments and accessories), 62 (Nonwovens and accessories) has a comparative advantage
