The Oxidation Kinetics of the Coal at the Low-Temperature Region
AbstractIt was investigated the kinetics and mechanism of the coal oxidation at low temperature (≤ 250°C). The coal was obtained from Tavşanlı-Kütahya (Turkey). The kinetics parameters were determined by thermal analysis apparatus. TG-DTG data taken in air atmosphere from 25 to 250°C at different heating rates (1, 2.5, 5 and 10°Cmin-1) were plotted under non-isothermal heating conditions. The activation energy, pre-exponential factor were determined by using the method suggested by Ortega. The activation energy was found to be 74.5 kJ/mol. In addition to, it was determined that the reaction mechanism at the low-temperature region for the coal was controlled by the R3:[1-(1-α)1/3] mechanism by the aid of the Master-Plot method.
