Discussions in the Greek Assembly on Anatolian War and Greece
AbstractThis study is about the discussions on Greece's Anatolian campaign between Venizelos, the President of the Prime Minister and the Liberal Party, and the President of the People's Party Çaldaris, in the Greek Parliament in April 1932. The aim of the study is to compare some of the information in the Turkish literature with the information that has the possibility of illuminating the Turkish National Struggle in the discussions. Sometimes witnesses and issues featured in the debate by being applied in the documents submitted were as follows: Greece, the impact of the financial crisis in Anatolia expedition costs experienced in 1932 and why these costs are not covered by the Entente / not met, in November 1920 the Greek elections results of the effects of war and Turkey at that time a peace with that context in Turkey, where it is possible the conditions under which Allied policy towards the Greek-Turkish War of states and the reasons behind it, posture regarding Venizelos war after the November 1920 elections and policy. Particularly worthy of note is the fact that Venizelos, who has played an important role in Greek politics and government since 1910, and who has been driving and directing the Anatolian movement until November 1920, has given information about the inside of the subject. The study is limited to discussions about the Turkish-Greek War in the Greek parliament. In addition to this, the development of Turkish-Greek relations from the beginning of the Greek Anatolian campaign until the November 1920 elections will be emphasized, and the information revealed in the Venizolos-Çaldaris debate will be compared with the information in the Turkish literature. The article, titled "Anatolian Warfare and Greece", which was published on April 20-25, 1932 of the Cumhuriyet newspaper, will mainly be used as a source in the study. In addition, the current Turkish literature on the Turkish-Greek War will be utilized.
