EFFECTS OF 112 ISTANBUL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE WORKERS’ PROFESSIONAL BURNOUT AND PERCEIVED STRESS LEVEL ON THEIR MARITAL SATISFACTION
AbstractEmergency health services have many stress factors due to working conditions. People’s coping skills with stress mostly remain inadequate due to these circumstances. The purpose of the research is to investigate the influence of occupational burnout levels, perceived stress, strategies of coping with stress on marital satisfaction in Istanbul 112 emergency health service’s employees. The research was based on 410 married individuals covering 243 females and 167 males whom are employed in various departments of Istanbul 112 emergency health service. The survey was presented together with demographic informative form to the participants. In the research Burnout Measure-Short Version, Perceived Stress Scale, Coping Stress Scale-Brief Form and Marriage Life Scale were used by the researcher. It was found that burnout levels were negatively correlated with marital satisfaction among participants. Perceived stress level was negatively correlated with marital satisfaction. However, the strategies of coping with stress were positively correlated with marital satisfaction.
