AbstractLooking at the energy consumption of our country in recent years, our energy demand has increased and our energy production has not increased at the same level. In addition, our increasing energy demand is solved by non-renewable energy sources such as oil, coal and natural gas. The energy dependence of our country was 67% in 2000 and reached 76% in 2017. The removal of energy demand from foreign countries causes a foreign trade deficit by damaging the country's economy and triggering economic problems. As a result of the econometric methods applied in many academic studies on this subject, the dependence of our country on foreign countries was supported. The problem of energy dependency caused a foreign trade deficit. This means that the energy policies implemented in our country are not sufficient and that renewable energy sources are not utilized sufficiently. With this study, it will be investigated how much foreign policies our energy policies have been from the past to the present. It also works with solutions and energy policies to minimize the energy dependency of Turkey will be completed satisfactory. In this respect, this study contributes to the literature.
