Provisions Related to Ehl-i Beyt And Nakîbü’l-Eşrâf In Muhimme Registers
AbstractMühimme Registers were the registries in which the copies of edicts were recorded that were edited after the approval of Sultan on the issues discussed in Dîvân-ı Hümâyûn in Ottoman State. These registries contain very large and important provisions such as the administrative structure and ways of shapes of central provincial organizations, state-tebaa and state-artisan relations, zoning, settlement and economic issues, domestic politics, riots and forms of repression, military history, strategy, foreign policy and interstate relations of the Ottoman Empire. There are quite wide content decisions about Nakîbü’l-eşrâf, Nakîbü’l-eşrâf Qaimaqams and Sâdât Çavuşs especially such as the lineage of sayyids and sheriffs about Ehl-i Beyt, their privileges and exemptions, their relations with local administrators. In this study the Mühimme Registers and their contents will be explained detailed and decisions made about sayyids, provisions addressed to the sayyids, nesep/genealogy information of sayyids, political, social and military duties of sayyids. Thus, the important information will be provided about the historical adventure and functions of Nakîbü’l-eşrâf and provisions about sayyids within the light of Mühimme Registries
