AbstractEnergy efficiency of the buildings in Cappadocia Airport have great importance for both economy and environment. Trigeneration is a simultanous function of electricity, heating and cooling systems by using single source of energy. In the study a tri-generation system has been designed to use energy efficiently at Cappadocia Airport in Nevşehir, and feasibility for the system has been examined. The most energy losses at tri-generation system has been observed in heating pot, heat–exchanger and turbine respectively. The Coefficient of performance of absorption cooling system which works with waste heat emitted from tri-generation system to atmosphere, has been calculated as 0.78 (COP) and tri-generation efficiency as 69%. Considering the initial investment cost of trigeneration system, it cancels out whole cost nearly in 12 years. In this study, trigeneration system designed for Cappadocia Airport would be beneficial to energy efficiency if carried out at al airports.
