AbstractMaintenance management helps to keep industrial systems in their optimum operating conditions. Thus, industrial maintenance is an inevitable service for an efficient production system. Essentially, the nominal life of each part of industrial products is anticipated by the designers in their design phase. Depending on this approach, the design life of most equipment requires periodic maintenance. However, the operating conditions and environment of many industrial equipment directly affect the maintenance period. For example, belts need a proper adjustment and alignment. Rotating elements require a proper lubrication, and so on. Therefore, the nominal life anticipated at the design stage does not occur for most industrial system components. This case is a very important risk factor for critical sectors. On the other hand, the conventional maintenance programs such as reactive, preventive and predictive cannot provide successful to adequately contribute to the solution of the problem. This study have been focused to investigate different approaches to how maintenance can be performed to ensure equipment reaches its design life. So, the main purpose of the study is to determine mechatronic system failures before they occur. For this purpose, as an initial study, a general framework for internet of things (IoT) based maintenance management model have been developed.
