Industry 4.0 maturity levels of Turkish SMEs in white goods manufacturing

Abstract

Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things have been becoming significant subjects in manufacturing sector. A survey which is based on Industry4.0 and Internet of Things was applied to the member companies of BEYSAD (white goods suppliers association). According to the study, one of purposes is measurement of factory maturity level and knowledge about Industry4.0. Another aim is analysis core competencies and inadequate areas of company. As a result of the survey, hypotheses were conducted and correlations were analysed by SPSS program. One of the results is the prior area of companies whose application level of lean manufacturing techniques is high, is assembly line for Industry4.0 transformation. The other result is the companies that have medium and high ratio of engineers to white collar have low application level of lean techniques. As previous instances, company investment amount for transformation, application level of lean techniques in factory, and automation level in assembly line, were analysed. After resulting hypotheses, further researches were stated as creating digital transformation map and analysing factories, conducting another survey, applying to same companies after a while, and examining results.
