AbstractEmergency vehicles, such as ambulances, fire brigades, police vehicles, etc., must go as fast and securely as possible. However, in recent years, the population growth rate in some of the big cities has increased so fast that these vehicles cannot reach places where they need to be. Smart city technologies evolving with Industry 4.0 allow to offer solutions to the problem. In this study, M2M technology was used to give priority for emergency vehicles that are the priority of the transition at traffic lights by using a control center and location information. The case study is modeled and operated on an intersection. Raspberry Pi was used as the control computer in the vehicle and traffic lights. Location information will be obtained by GPS in real-life implementation of the case study, but the location has been created in a virtual way so that it will not be possible to obtain location information in a healthy manner during the case study. Communication between the vehicle control center and the traffic lights is done via Wi-Fi connection so that the case study can be operated in a closed area. At the end of the work, the priority given to the emergency vehicles in the traffic lights has reached the result that the emergency vehicles can go faster and more securely.
