Using of Metallic Foams in the Automotive Industry

AbstractIn recent years, as well as in various engineering fields, it is important to be able to provide lightness and durability at the beginning of the study subjects which are also important in the automotive field. The requirement for durable and lightweight construction with superior mechanical properties is increasing day by day. For this purpose, the most important subject that has been studied intensively over the last years is metallic foam materials. In addition to the automotive industry, there is also use in rail systems and space industry. The use of these materials in the automotive sector is becoming widespread due to their superior energy absorption ability, vibration damping and thermal insulation. Due to its foam-like internal structure, it is lightweight as well as shock-absorbing. As a result, 75% to 95% of the space is made of very light and very durable material.
