AbstractEpoxy resins are getting more attention nowadays on fields such as electronic devices, bonding and aerospace industry, since they have superior mechanical properties, high bonding ability, chemical properties and electrical conductivity and enhancing their properties via nanoparticle reinforcement have become subject for many studies. The aim of this study is to increase epoxy resins’ mechanical and physical properties through reinforcing with nanoparticles. Epoxy/nanocomposites, which are reinforced with nano Fe2O3 particle in different ratios by weight (0,5% - 1,0% - 2% - 4%), are prepared via ultrasonic mixing device. In order to determine mechanical properties, five specimens for each parameter are prepared for tensile test and test is applied according to ASTM D638 standard. Data, which are obtained through tensile tests, are compared diagrammatically. Deformation surfaces of damaged specimens are inspected by SEM and interpreted. In the end of experimental study, increments were determined in tensile properties such as tensile stress, toughness and percentage elongation with nanoparticle reinforcement.
