The Casuality Relationship between Financial Services Confidence Index and Credit Default Swaps
AbstractConfidence in financial markets is very important for both national and international investors. Financial Services Confidence Index (FSCI) is the national indicator of confidence in financial markets for Turkey. The international standard of the mentioned confidence is Credit Default Swap (CDS). The aim of this study is to analyze the causality between FSCI with CDS in Turkey. In this study, Boootstrap Causality Test developed by Hacker and Hatemi-J (2010) is used based on the monthly data for the period 2012:05-2018:11. According to the findings of the study, there is one-way causality from the CDS to FSCI. The results show that the operating structures of financial institutions in Turkey is in line with the pricing mechanism of CDS premiums. That the empirical evidence show that FSCI published by the CBRT is affected by CDS Premiums which are financial risk premium indicators, makes a unique contribution to the literature.
