Does the Exchange Rate Change Affect Intra-Industry Trade?
AbstractIn this study is to measure the relationship between intra-industry trade and the exchange rate in the automotive sector which is one of the sectors where product differentiation and fragmentation in production are most intense. The relationship between exchange rate with intra-industry trade is made by Germany between the years of 1991-2017 in Turkey in the study were tested by Granger Causality Analysis. For this study, used “SITC Rev 3 product aggregation level”, “7 Coded Machinery and Transportation Vehicles category” “78 Coded Motor Vehicles subcategory”. Accordingly, it is determined that there is a positive relationship between intra-industry trade and exchange rate. The exchange rate of one unit changes the intraindustry trade by 0.16 units; while a change in one unit of intra-industry trade has resulted in the exchange rate increasing by 3.31 units.
