Abstract

Al–Si-Mg alloys are generally alloyed with supporting additions such as Ti, Zr or Be. Zirconium and titanium are used as grain refiners [1-4]. Fakhraei et al. have been studied on improving the ductility of Al–8%Mg alloys by Al– 5Ti–1B master alloy [2]. This study consists grain refinement and heat treatment processes over A357 Al-Si-Mg alloy. Grain refinement process have been carried out via addition of AlTi5B1 master alloy to the A357 alloy. A357 alloy was melted and AlTi5B1 master alloy have been added to the liquid metal with three different weight proportions as %0.5, 1 and 1.5 at 740-750°C temperature range. A357 and AlTi5B1 materials’ chemical properties were illustrated in Table 1
