AbstractIn this study; The effect of the heat treatment applied to the samples taken from the domestic production gear part used in the construction machinery, on the heavy abrasive wear is investigated. Samples removed from the threaded part were allowed to stand at 900 ºC for 1 hour and then cooled by quenching. Water samples were tempered at 400 ºC for 1.5 hours. Non-heat-treated and heat-treated samples were subjected to abrasive wear test against 60 mesh Al2o3 sandpaper under 40N, 80N, and 120N load. The abrasive wear resistance of the examined domestic nail in severe abrasive wear conditions improved by 37% in heat treatment
