Influence of Weight Fraction on Mechanical Properties of Magnesium Nanocomposites
AbstractLightweight materials are used for many scientific and commercial applications. Among lightweight materials, magnesium is the lightest metal; therefore, magnesium and its alloys have been preferred for scientific researches and commercial applications [1]. Not only magnesium has light weight but also has great properties such as energy efficiency, excellent castability, recyclability, good dimensional stability, damping capacity, sustainability and good electromagnetic shielding [2]. However, in order to overcome the limitations of magnesium such as high corrosion rate, low elastic modulus and poor creep and abrasion resistance, ceramic particles have been added to magnesium alloys. For this purpose, carbides (B4C, SiC, TiC, ZrC), oxides (Al2O3, TiO2), nitrides (BN, AlN, TiN, ZrN), and borides (TiB2, ZrB2) are used as reinforcement particles in metal matrix composites.
